dragonball took a long time to find its way to NZ. wasnt til 2000 that it showed up and put everyone on notice. and the version we got was just horrible, cause the local TV station had edited it even further. a show all about fighting and we had none of it. they cut out all the contact and impacts. and it didnt matter cause we still loved it. (the ocean dub of goku vs vegeta remains an all time favourite.) after all that, when i was studying animation, i still remember the disdain my tutors had for dragonball, because it so pervasive and all encompassing. so i ended up drifting away from it. until i found dragon quest 8. not just an utterly charming RPG, but a reminder of how much i loved the artistic vision. that game, along with dragonball z & chrono trigger round out the trinity of projects that resonated most with me. so many filled sketch books, those dbz character designs are ingrained memory. i could write so much more, but ive already written too much. thanks for
